NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting


This course replaces the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course and is conducted in two phases. Phase I consists of an e-learning portion completed online in the comfort of your own home. This is done through the NRA website. Upon successful completion of Phase I, printing out your certification activates your PIN. That PIN makes you eligible to register for Phase II. 


Topics include:

Gun safety rules

Proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols

Ammunition knowledge and selection

Selecting and storing a pistol

Fundamentals of shooting

Pistol inspection and maintenance


Phase II is a hands-on practical portion conducted at the range. RK Shot Training will test comprehension and finish with the shooting qualification.


The cost of Phase I of this course is $60 (payable to the NRA).

The cost of Phase II of this course is $50.


Note: This course does not meet the requirements for the Maryland Handgun Qualification license.
